Salvadoran authorities bought 500 BTC during the fall in exchange rates

The authorities of El Salvador have decided to additionally replenish their BTC reserves. To do this, the country's government allocated funds to buy 500 units of the digital currency, while it is in the decline phase. The transaction was announced on Twitter by the President of El Salvador Nayib Bukele.

According to him, half a thousand bitcoins were purchased for just over $30,000 per unit when the cryptocurrency market was showing negative values. It is noted that this purchase was the largest since the legal turnover of BTC and its use as a means of payment became possible in El Salvador. After the transaction, the total volume of the fund amounted to 2,301 bitcoins.

Bukele once again decided to buy bitcoin at a time of falling exchange rates, despite calls from the IMF not to do so. The organization has repeatedly warned that the adoption of the first cryptocurrency as a legal means of payment could lead to negative consequences for both its citizens and the global economy. El Salvador disagrees, saying that investing in bitcoin would reduce inflation.

According to media reports, authorities in El Salvador have already begun to benefit from the legalization of BTC. With the money generated from financial transactions, the government builds schools and provides assistance to orphanages.
