Intel head criticized bitcoin for harming the environment

Pat Gelsinger, CEO of the U.S. corporation Intel, in a conversation with journalists, assessed the impact of bitcoin mining and distribution on the environment. According to the head of the company, which is the leader in the production of chips, the damage to the climate from the first cryptocurrency is obvious.

According to Gelsinger, just one transfer of digital currency within the bitcoin network consumes exactly as much electricity as would be enough to power a whole house for a day. Therefore, the situation can be characterized as a climate crisis, the CEO sounded the alarm.

The CEO pointed out that the corporation is now busy setting up production of a new chip which will be created specifically for mining. In this case, it is expected that such step in the development of technology will reduce energy costs in the extraction of cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin. In addition, the devices will be produced on small chips, so the main production plans and processes of the company will not change, assured Intel.

Earlier, the Cardano Foundation reported on the success of its tree-planting program while attracting investment in the token format. By January of this year, the organization managed to plant 1 million trees.
