Zuckerberg announced the imminent appearance of NFT on Instagram

Mark Zuckerberg, the creator and CEO of Facebook, now called Meta, announced the imminent integration of non-interchangeable tokens (NFT) into the Instagram social network. The billionaire shared this information with the public during his speech at the recent SXSW summit.

As Zuckerberg clarified, the option to create NFTs could be introduced to the popular social network within the coming months. At the same time, the head of Meta preferred not to announce a specific date of the planned innovation. Speaking at the conference billionaire also noted that in the future NFT will be created from the clothes of virtual characters of users.

Earlier in the press there were only rumors about the integration of non-exchangeable tokens in social networks, belonging to the holding. It was also indicated that Meta Corporation might develop its own NFT marketplace. The rumors were fueled by all sorts of statements by representatives of the social networks' management. For example, late last year, Instagram representatives said that Meta was actively studying NFT.

Twitter also followed the path of introducing NFT into its platform, which since January this year has introduced the possibility to set up non-interchangeable tokens in the form of profile avatars.
