US police confiscated $34 million in cryptocurrencies from hacker

U.S. law enforcement officers continue to exercise strict oversight over any suspicious financial transactions online. This time, as a result of concerted action, police managed to seize about $34 million in cryptocurrency from the hacker. According to information from the official portal of the U.S. Justice Department, this money was obtained from the sale of hacked accounts.

As the law enforcement officials specified, the resident of Florida, whose name was not disclosed, sold about 100 thousand illegal products on the darknet, and distributed for a fee stolen accounts of users of popular services.

It is noted that the criminal managed to cover his tracks thanks to the TOR network, which hid his IP-address.
The hacker distributed the obtained money to several cryptocurrency wallets. In addition, he used mixing services. In this way, he prevented law enforcement agencies from figuring out where the proceeds came from.

The U.S. Attorney's Office added that the seizure of crypto-assets was carried out as part of a special operation of U.S. law enforcement officials at various levels. Their main task is to catch criminal organizations selling illegal substances and laundering their proceeds.
