Hackers used an NFT artist's Twitter feed for phishing

A blockchain cybersecurity specialist known online as Harry.ETH wrote a post warning about the hacking of Mike Winkelmann's non-fungible token artist (NFT) account. Attackers used the latter's page to lure the artist's many subscribers to a special website, where they could fraudulently steal their funds.

The expert made the publication in time and prevented the criminals from profiting from the trust of ordinary NFT holders. In his warning he pointed out that Winkelmann's personal page was managed by third parties. They had managed to post their link there, leading allegedly to a token raffle site that the fashion house Louis Vuitton had a hand in.

Harry.ETH appealed to the artist's subscribers not to believe the information on the site and not to click on the proposed link. He also asked them to spread his warning to other users of the social network. According to the specialist himself, at this point there are already victims who believed the scammer. The total losses are 35 ETH, which is equivalent of about $70 thousand.

Mike Winkelman himself did not provide any comments on the incident despite the surge of messages about it. The support service of the social network also has not yet confirmed that any measures were taken to neutralize the threat
