International Game Developers Association pointed out the problems of the NFT

Gamers around the world need to point out the problems that can potentially arise from the introduction of NFT technology in computer games. This is the goal of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA).

According to the organization, the association does not have a clear position on the NFT, but there is no doubt that the integration of the non-exchangeable tokens in the game is fraught with a number of problems. IGDA, in particular, is concerned about the safety of some NFT-projects, which could be pyramid schemes.

The association also pays attention to another characteristic feature of the NFT industry, which is the absence of regulatory mechanisms. IGDA director Jakin Vela explained that the payment of accumulated funds cannot be guaranteed to the players who are fully dedicated to making money in Play-to-Earn games. The reason for this problem lies in the fact that the rights of gamers have not yet been formalized anywhere, Vela noted.

Previously, IGDA was more categorical and called on game companies around the world to refuse to implement NFT in their projects. The association justified its opinion by the large amount of electricity consumed by token mining.
