Madonna spent half a million dollars on an NFT from the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection

The famous American singer Madonna, despite her respectable age, decided to support the trend of involvement of media personalities in the cryptocurrency sphere. The popular performer bought non-exchangeable token (NFT) issued by the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collection.

As pointed out Madonna herself on her Instagram, the purchase of digital product she helped the company MoonPay. The token, which ended up in the possession of the singer, was valued at 180 ETH, or just over $500 thousand at current exchange rates. Thanking MoonPay in her publication, the artist said that she now had her "own monkey", which allowed her to become part of the meta universe.

MoonPay acts as a "concierge service" for celebrities and dignitaries interested in buying non-transferable tokens (NFTs). It also advertises digital assets on television and other platforms.

Earlier, the organization, which has created a collection of NFT monkeys, managed to raise $450 million in the next investment round. It is noted that the company Yuga Labs will direct the received funds to increase the number of employees and financing of planned projects. We are talking about, among other things, the launch of its own metaworld.
