U.S. authorities reported the activation of crypto-frauders from North Korea

The U.S. authorities accused hackers from the DPRK of trying to steal digital assets belonging to U.S. technology companies. On the previous day, a number of government agencies, including the FBI, prepared a joint recommendation warning of the threat of hacking by North Korean cybercriminals.

It is noted that the blockchain and cryptocurrency industry developed in the United States is under most pressure. The country's authorities have been observing DPRK's attempts to hack the security systems of organizations working in this field for years. The agencies have singled out cryptocurrency exchanges and venture capital funds as specific targets of cyberattacks. Also in the crosshairs are ordinary individuals with NFT collections and cryptocurrency savings, the FBI added.

Hackers mostly use time-tested tactics, namely downloading malware into the user's device. Most often, this is done through sending phishing emails. Their content is mostly aimed at employees of large IT-companies. Messages can be disguised as job offers with significantly higher pay.

Earlier this year, the UN published a report stating that digital assets were the main source of the DPRK's nuclear program.
