The Bank of Canada reported financial illiteracy of most cryptoinvestors

Most Canadian investors who choose bitcoin as an investment asset do not have the necessary amount of knowledge in this area. At the same time, investors with sufficient knowledge prefer not to invest in BTC. Such conclusions are contained in a research published by the Bank of Canada.

Experts point out that profitable work with digital assets always implies investor's knowledge about blockchain and how the whole crypto industry is organized. Nevertheless, it is the fundamentals of financial literacy that deserve more attention from potential investors, emphasize the Bank of Canada.

It is noted that according to statistics, the most part of owners of the first cryptocurrency are wealthy men. The vast majority using cryptocurrencies as high-yield investment vehicles, and only some of those surveyed indicated that own bitcoin to pay for various goods and services.

The surveys were conducted in Canada over a four-year period from 2016 to 2020. Some experts, commenting on the results of the study, suggested that the spread and popularity of cryptocurrencies will increase financial literacy among the general population in the future.
