Hacker tricked subscribers of Korean artist NFT

The personal Twitter account of Korean NFT artist DeeKay Kwon was attacked and used for phishing. The scammer managed to fraudulently lure about $150,000 in non-fungible token from the artist's followers.

It should be noted that after hacking into an account, the attacker posted a link leading to a malicious site. Upon clicking on the link, victims were prompted to confirm the transaction in order to supposedly gain access to a unique NFT giveaway. The link was also accompanied by a comment from a hacker posing as DeeKay Kwon. According to him, the collection was called LetsWalk, and only 1,000 people could access it.

Many of his subscribers fell for the ruse and approved the transaction. After that, the attacker gained access to their wallets. All in all, the account was in the wrong hands for about five hours. During that time, the criminal managed to steal $150,000 worth of tokens. After DeeKay Kwon regained control of his profile, he deleted the post with the malicious link and apologized to his subscribers.

Zerion provided data showing that within five hours of the attack, most of the stolen money was transferred to another wallet of the perpetrator. Approximately one-third of all stolen assets remained in the wallet used at the time of the theft.
