Russian minister says it is impossible to ban cryptocurrencies

It is impossible to ban cryptocurrency, as well as the Internet on the territory of Russia. This statement was made by Anton Siluanov, the head of the Ministry of Finance, who noted that his ministry, in contrast to the Central Bank, supports the legalization of the cryptocurrency market.

According to him, the Central Bank aims to impose a ban on digital assets because of the possibility of development of non-transparent settlement market. Siluanov said that the Ministry of Finance understands their colleagues, but believes that instead of a total ban it is better to work out measures to regulate the market. To date, as stressed by the minister, his ministry finds it difficult to find common ground with the Bank of Russia on this issue.

The Ministry of Finance is set to recognize the legality of the cryptocurrency market with appropriate taxation. It is planned that the state budget will receive deductions from the difference of funds invested and withdrawn into cryptocurrency. In addition, the department considers it necessary to impose a limit on the maximum amount of funds allocated to this asset. Thus, the Ministry of Finance believes that inexperienced investors are protected.

At the same time, the Central Bank is clearly against the legalization of cryptocurrency. They believe that all transactions with it should be prohibited.
