Crypto exchange Coinbase accused of selling user data to the U.S. government

Rumors continue to spread online that the largest American cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is cooperating with the US Department of Homeland Security. Representatives of the company have already responded to this statement and assured that they have never leaked their users' data, and all the accusations are untrue.

Earlier, users of the exchange found information about the collusion of Coinbase with the American authorities. The company immediately began to receive massive criticism. People started writing accusations of selling their data without permission. According to them, they did not count on this at all, and one of the users said that he would demand compensation in the amount of 10 million from the site.

Coinbase immediately issued a denial of the rumors. On Twitter, representatives of the exchange indicated that
their priority is to protect their users, as well as to ensure the reliable functioning of the platform. Cooperation with the government is carried out not to sell user data, but to investigate financial crimes, they explained.

In conclusion, they added that all information about users of the exchange that falls into the hands of the government is taken from open sources. This means that the platform does not sell information from its internal databases.
