Law enforcement authorities of Penza region discovered on the territory of one of the farms a large farm mining cryptocurrency. According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the miners are suspected of illegal use of large amounts of electricity.

The agency pointed out that at the moment seven people involved in the organization of the farm have been detained. Among the suspects were qualified specialists in the field of computer equipment and work with power grids.

Among other things, the detainees are charged with intentional violation of the operation of a nearby transformer substation. By their actions, the owners of the illegal farm caused substantial losses to the region's property, so now a criminal case has been opened against them, which provides for penalties under the relevant article.

It is reported that in just two months of operation of the farm, about three million kWh of electricity was spent, the equivalent of half a million rubles in cash.

Earlier it was reported that "colleagues" of the Penza miners were detained in the Kostroma region. However, unlike the latter, there the amount of losses was 6 times greater and amounted to three million rubles.
