Cryptocurrency and cash worth 500,000 rubles were stolen from a St. Petersburg resident by "alleged FSB officers

In St. Petersburg there was another crime related to the theft of cryptocurrencies. This time the victim of the attackers was a 21-year-old resident of the northern capital, who had to part with cash and cryptocurrency totaling more than half a million rubles.

As the victim reported, on his way home, he was confronted by two men of imposing appearance, who called themselves FSB officers. Without any lengthy conversation the young man was forced to get into a nearby Mercedes.

He was beaten inside the car and then robbed of 110,000 rubles in cash he had with him. Then, using the victim's smartphone, the criminals logged into the young man's crypto-purse and transferred more than 3.5 thousand unspecified cryptocurrency units to their accounts.

After all the manipulations, as the young man further explained, they took him to a nearby shopping mall, where they threw him out of the car. After calculating the incurred damages, the amount of losses from the actions of criminals amounted to 535 thousand rubles. At present criminal proceedings are instituted concerning the fact of robbery.

Earlier in December last year in St. Petersburg two criminals who stole more than 50 million rubles in cryptocurrency under the guise of FSB officers were sentenced to nine and seven years in prison.
