European states will start tracking cryptocurrency transfers

All cryptocurrency remittances in the EU must now include information on the source of the transaction and the recipient. This is the result of a vote held the day before in the European Parliament, where 93 votes were cast in favor of tracking digital assets against 14.

Earlier the deputies had discussed about preserving the anonymity of cryptocurrency transactions, when the total amount of transferred funds did not exceed one thousand euros. However, in the end it was decided to fully de-anonymize without any restrictions. The European Parliament explained that any rules can be broken when it comes to cryptocurrencies, so the introduction of limits makes no sense.

The innovation in the European Union's cryptocurrency sector will eliminate any minimum thresholds and assumptions. Thus, any transaction made in digital currency can be tracked regardless of the amount of transfer.

It is noted that the new rules have become an integral part of the pan-European course to combat money laundering and prevent terrorist financing. At the same time, it is indicated that the innovation will not affect everyone, but only providers of cryptocurrency services and individuals who carry out transfers with the participation of the provider.
