The 2024 Summer Olympics are proposed to use blockchain

The French Olympic Committee is considering the use of blockchain technology to sell tickets for sporting events at the upcoming Olympic Games. The request with the corresponding proposal was sent for consideration to the Prime Minister of France.

The committee wants to give an opportunity to all people who wish to buy tickets with the help of QR codes. Further they won't be able to present or resell them to the third parties as they are fixed to the buyers and will be sent to them two or three days before the opening of the Olympic Games. After the fan passes the registration procedure at the entrance to the stadium, his ticket will be invalid. As noted in the committee, these measures will ensure the safety and convenience.

In addition, thanks to the use of digital technology, fans who bought a ticket will receive useful information about the progress of the Olympic Games or how to get around in Paris, the host city in 2024.

Digital technology is expected to be introduced at sporting events as early as 2023. However, the French authorities, who were previously unhappy with the unrest at a recent soccer match, must give their approval. Some fans attended the game with a fake ticket or without one at all.
