The popular U.S. streaming service of movies and TV series Netflix announced the creation of a documentary project about cryptocurrency fraudsters. As promised by the company, the series will tell a wide audience the story of Elijah Lichtenstein and Heather Morgan, accused of stealing assets from the Bitcoin exchange Bitfinex.

It is already known who will take the chair of the director of the project. He will be a proven track record in other documentaries from Netflix director Chris Smith.

Recall that Lichtenstein and Morgan were detained in early February after the establishment of the criminal case against them for laundering about 12 thousand bitcoins, which were stolen from the Bitfinex exchange six years ago. According to authorities, BTC worth $3.6 billion were confiscated from the detainees.

The government ignored a New York court order to release the young couple on eight million dollars bail, and Lichtenstein and Morgan remain behind bars. According to Bitfinex, police are still investigating and trying to determine if the suspects had accomplices. A decision to put the suspects in long-term custody, up to 25 years, is now under consideration.
