Cryptojackers launched a broadcast on Apple's YouTube channel

A YouTube channel owned by Apple was hacked by cryptocurrency scammers to attract an audience to a new scam. This was reported by journalists of various global publications after watching a live broadcast on the channel with clear signs of fraud.

The media pointed out that by using the tools of social engineering, the scammers managed to impose their video to view several tens of thousands of YouTube users. The criminals chose the most appropriate time for sabotage, as the broadcast was published immediately after the official announcement of the iPhone 14. Because of this, the fake video managed to get to the top positions in searches and recommendations to users of the video hosting.

Those who managed to watch the broadcast noted that the video included a link leading supposedly to the
Apple LIVE. In fact, the URL of the page had nothing to do with the company.

During the broadcast journalists started to write an appeal to YouTube to take action, but the video hosting didn't get any response. Only after a while, the video was removed from the platform due to violations of internal rules.
