Nine Japanese officials have been awarded non-transferable NFT

For the first time in the world, non-fungible tokens (NFT) were used to award government officials. Nine Japanese officials who have been most successful in integrating digital technologies into government processes were presented with awards in an innovative format.

The event, dubbed Summer Digi Denkoshien 2022, was large-scale and attracted a number of major technology companies. Japanese President Fumio Kishida also attended the award ceremony.

The Hazama Base blockchain-based platform was used to develop and transfer the tokens. Earlier it was also used to distribute NFT at another important political event in Japan.

It is noted that the non-fungible tokens presented to the managers operate on the basis of the proof of attendance protocol (POAP). This protocol eliminates the possibility of NFT transfers to third parties. Awarded officials will be able to use their digital awards to identify themselves, as well as to prove their attendance at any important event. Earlier, the idea of such a token application based on the POAP protocol was put forward by Vitalik Buterin, the creator of Etherium.
