Ubisoft is no longer in a hurry to implement NFT and blockchain in its games

The previously planned widespread introduction of NFT and blockchain in new Ubisoft game studio projects
is postponed indefinitely. The company says that at the moment the application of these technologies is at the research stage.

Previously, Ubisoft management has repeatedly expressed its intention to introduce the promising technology NFT in the upcoming projects of the company. However, now the top managers are not so confident in the future success of this idea, so the process had to be put on pause. However, as the games publisher's CEO Yves Guillemot pointed out, the company is at the stage of further studying and evaluating the prospects of blockchain and non-fungible tokens.

He also announced a series of tests of cloud technologies and other innovations in several games to evaluate the reaction of gamers in practice. Ubisoft has done some research before, but it's not enough yet, and it's ongoing, Guillemot said.

Toward the end of 2021, the game publisher began testing a platform Quartz, designed for trading NFT. It was planned to integrate it with the popular game Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint, but gamers were caught off guard by this news, and the company received a lot of negative feedback.
