World celebrities criticized for promoting NFT

Truth in Advertising (TINA), a consumer advocacy community, has released letters previously sent to global celebrities suspected of withholding royalties for promoting NFT.

The recipients of the letters from TINA were 19 global stars of film, music and even sports. Among them are Madonna, Eminem, Paris Hilton, Gwyneth Paltrow and others. All of them, in one way or another, are involved in promoting non-fungible tokens on their social networks. According to the representatives of the organization, the NFT industry is closely connected with fraud, and the stars that hide the fact that they receive rewards for advertising tokens, only contribute to the deterioration of the situation.

What worries experts the most is that celebrities advertising all sorts of projects never talk about the risks associated with them. Such promotion of investments in speculative digital assets has a negative impact on the public, the nonprofit consumer protection organization believes.

TINA's claim has a legal basis. Thus, the organization believes that celebrities by their actions may violate the requirements established by the Federal Trade Commission. According to them, when promoting any brands, it is always necessary to specify the conditions under which advertising is carried out.
