MTV Video Music Awards 2022 will include performances in the metaverse in the list of nominations

This year, one of the leading music awards, the MTV Video Music Awards, decided to expand the list of nominations with a new competition category. For the first time, international stars will compete for the title of best performer who has performed within the metaverse.

The first contenders for the award for "The best performance in the metaverse" according to MTV will be a total of six musical groups or individuals. Among them are pop stars Ariana Grande, Charli XCX and Justin Bieber, the American duo Twenty One Pilots, as well as K-pop groups Blackpink and BTS.

Earlier, organizers of the event were alarmed by the gradual decline in popularity of the MTV Video Music Awards - the event's viewing figures have been dropping over the past five years.
